Thursday, 11 March 2010

We have had a couple of people that have contacted us through the website requesting information about the club. We are happy that people have found their way to us, particularly as the weather is starting to warm up from an unusually cool and wet winter. Rest assured, we will be planning many events in the upcoming months and we look forward to meeting any members or interested persons that we have not met yet.

Come along and share the fun and camaraderie that can be had with the club, the people and the cars of Tampa Bay Roadsters.

SmokinAsBBQ Car Show
Written by Ric Harvester
Wednesday, 13 August 2008

Our next event will be held at SmokinAsBBQ on the evening of August 16th. We have been invited to a car show starting at 7:00 pm and lasting until 11:00 pm. SmokinAsBBQ is located at 3643 W. Waters ave. in Tampa. The restaurant has a website at : http://smokinasbbq.com/ This event is for cars and clubs of all ages and styles and the owner sought out local clubs and contacted me through this website for the invite. I thought it would be a good time for a get together, as we have not had one since early June and being an evening function would be cool enough to come out and sit and visit. As of this writing I have already received RSVPs from five of our members who are planning on attending. As always. if you can't attend this event there will be future opportunities to hear what's planned and meet other members. We would love to see more people, more cars and more friends and really make this into a premier club. Come and join us, we'd like to have you along.

At the show we had Barry, Chuck, Dave (new member) and Ric,we had a good time talking and just spending time together. We're trying to figure out a meet and greet for next month, if anyone has any suggestions. We'll be going to Don Garlits museum in Ocala in late October. Hope we can get the whole group together for that ride.

Tail of the Dragon June 2008

Tail of the Dragon June 2008Dragon_Mist.jpg

Barry and I went up to Tail of the Dragon in late June and I had a wonderful time. Doug and Ginny were there also and seemed to have a good time from when we saw them. This is a picture of the run on friday. We had 37 cars on this run, you can imagine the looks we got, on the road, and as we went through a couple of towns. People stopped and stared as we had our parade. Unfortunately Barry's car broke down on the first day's runs and he was unable to get all that we had gone up there for. It seems that his car is finally back running properly and he's ready to get involved in running around with us again.Laughing

The twisties were a lot of fun and it was great seeing what the car could really handle. I hope you like the pictures of the area and the runs.

The picture above was taken at Fontana Dam on friday night, as we all got together for a group pic. Never seen so many Kappas together. Here we had stopped for gas before the run. How many cars at a gas station at one time? Sure we made the owners happy. For those who haven't gone, you might consider this for a road trip next year. Great people, great scenerey, lots of fun.

Best of Pinellas Run
Monday, 01 October 2007

On June 1st we held the Best of Pinellas Run. We had a total of 9 cars that came along for the ride. We started at Tampa's International Mall with a breakfast and then drove to Philipe Park in Clearwater, where we took a few pictures of all of us together.

We then went up to the sponge docks in Tarpon Springs, across the Dunedin Causeway and down along the beaches. We got some great looks from the people along the way and I would say that everyone had a great time together.

Thanks to all of you that came and made this a great day for the start of what I'm sure will be a great club. A special thanks to Jeff Donald for setting up the run for us, it was well layed out with good maps.
